Housing Sub Committee
The Housing sub group was formed in April 2001 as it was agreed by the forum that there were many issues of a housing nature that could be dealt with effectively through a sub committee. Some of the work carried out by the housing Sub committee includes being involved in the development of the Housing Strategy for older people. The Director of Housing, attended a meeting of the Sub committee to discuss the concerns if the Forum on issues raised in relation to older peoples housing.
The housing Sub committee became involved in the issues around the Tarrant Bungalows and had success in assisting those tenants affected to find a satisfactory conclusion.
The Sub committee deals often with individual cases for older people across the city that have had problems accessing housing services and repairs or has difficulty with a local office. T
Members of the Sub committee have received training in Health and Safety inspections and work with the Anti social behaviour.
Work is currently being undertaken with the newly formed ALMO (arms length management organisation) Wolverhampton Homes. The committee is looking at garage provision, Leaseholder issues and the ongoing work being carried out to ensure Wolverhampton's housing meets the decent homes standard. They are also invited to consultations and conferences run by Wolverhampton Homes. The Chief Executive or a representative from Wolverhampton Homes attends the sub committee.
