The Health Sub Committee was established to raise the issues around the Health and well being of older people and people in general. The committee has roles on many health organisation user panels to ensure the voice of older people is heard.

The health Sub Committee works closely with organisations such as the Royal Wolverhampton Hospital trust through its Patients Forum; it looks at issues raised about the Hospitals and helps to ensure the voices of older people are heard. The Forum is represented through the Health Sub Committee on the Bereavement Service Steering group to monitor the development of the service. The bereavement service came as a direct response to issues raised by the Forum.

Work is also undertaken by the Sub Committee to look at implementing the National Service Standards for Older people. This is carried out with the Councils Social Services Department and the Health Authority.

Prostate Awareness was an issue that the Forum raised through the Health Sub Committee. They organised a very successful awareness campaign on this subject.

The Health Sub Committee was recently involved in the review of older peoples Information service. This was implemented through the Older Peoples Strategy Team holding a meeting to discuss the report which had been written about the Information Provision for older people.

The work of the Health Sub Committee is varied and often means being involved in other activities across the City. The members of the Committee will take up any issues raised in the area of Health bought to the forum and agreed by Forum members as requiring their attention
